Pride

One thing I struggle with more than almost anything else is pride. C.S. Lewis describes pride as "the great sin" and, indeed, the very first sin (when, in Heaven, Satan became Satan by seeking God's glory for himself). Pride seems to be at the core of most sin.

It is not fun: I am finding more and more pride in myself! Which makes me feel like I'm moving backwards.

It is tempting to focus on my pride in order to root it out. But I know that that is not the solution. The solution is to focus on and go to God; to remember the cross, his grace, the example of his Son (Phil. 2:5-11), his Spirit, his glory and his all-sufficiency.

"He must become greater; I must become less." - John 3:30

Thank you, Lord, for who you are. Thank you for not giving up on us. Thank you that you want to use us. Help us to depend on you and make us more like you. In Jesus' name. Amen.
