Facts about poverty

I recently learned in "The Skeptics Guide to Global Poverty" that:

-One billion people live in slums
-The 48 nations in Southern Africa have a combined GDP (money-flow) equal to that of the city of Chicago.
-11 million children die each year before the age of five - mostly from poverty-related issues
-The richest 20% of the world consumes 86% of the world's goods
