Jeremiah 29
Jan 18 update: Looks like I'll be arriving in Toronto on February 6. Looking forward to it! Thanks for praying.
Dear friends,
I am sad to report that things did not work out in my relationship with Lydia, but we find comfort in knowing that God has a plan--His best--for both of us (Jeremiah 29:11-13).
I believe that my time in Leeds, UK, was God-appointed. For one thing, it gave me an understanding of the importance of the church in the UK for the world. (The UK is still in the top five missionary-sending nations, and every year a God-honouring interdenominational conference called Spring Harvest is attended by over 20,000 believers in this great nation.)
Where now? I am happy to report that I feel the Lord has called me back to Canada - to a specific neighborhood in Toronto.
I have always felt a strong connection to the ministry and have been invited by the team to join this new work. I have never not been part of it to some extent, and I am excited about the prospect of 'moving in'. My role will include mobilizing Christians to get involved in the work (because we need it!) - through prayer, friendship, giving, and other ways. At the same time, I will be running my online book business full-time, having some involvement with George Verwer's Special Projects, and worshipping at Leaside Bible Chapel.
Please pray that I will (only) do what God wants me to do, that the Lord would help me strike the right balance, and that I will find the accommodation of God's choice in Toronto. I hope to be back in Canada in a week or two. Pray too for Lydia. I know that God is going to use her tremendously - especially as regards her passion for refugees, asylum seekers, and war-torn areas of the world.
Continuing in God's plan,
Nigel
