Today is the Global Day of Prayer

Birthed in South Africa by a Christian businessman there, today is the annual Global Day or Prayer. More than 50 million Christians across the Earth have gathered today--in stadiums, in churches, in homes--to pray for the world. What about you and me? Whether you read this today (Sunday) or later, I encourage you to pause for a literal minute now and pray big-vision prayers for the world. Complete the following prayer.

Father in Heaven: most of us have a lot of worries. Financial payments and making ends meet while trying to be generous; so many relationships where people are relying on us; unexpected challenges; our relationship with you and our tendency to let it be a source of guilt rather than a source of joy (deliver us from this); the list goes on. But we pause now to lift up our eyes and let ourselves go to God-sized vision, and recommit ourselves to intercessory prayer and lives-changing action. We pray for Sudan and the genocide going on there. We pray about recent human rights violations in Pakistan. We pray about the Dalit slaves of India. We pray that more would take the good news to Saudi Arabia. We pray for a movement among the young people in Toronto and other parts of the Western and non-Western world - for whole lives sold out to revolutionary, love-filled, vision-driven and Spirit-led reality. I want to personalize this, Lord, and pray...
